Fees include all accommodation costs, food and drink, personal care, heating and lighting, any laundry done on the premises and any other services provided by the staff. Fees are payable in advance, usually by monthly bank standing order although other frequencies and methods may be acceptable to the home.

Residents are expected to use their personal allowance or private income to pay for personal items such as newspapers, magazines, books and tapes, and for additional services provided within the home such as hairdressing, entertainment and chiropody. If the home purchases items or services on behalf of a resident then the home will invoice the resident or their representative.

Residents may, of course, make their own arrangements for buying personal items and services; e.g. a resident may choose to have a telephone line in their bedroom but would be responsible for paying the bills.
